This monumental statue is erected on the Kanto plane of Japan, about an hour north of Tokyo in a city called Kamakura. Daibutsu means "large Buddha" in Japanese, and this one is large enough to walk around inside via a two story stair case. He towers above the trees and can't help but be impressive.
The goal of this shot was to capture the pool of light on Buddha's hair and in his palms to reflect his meditation and serenity.
